
Artist Bio: Deyi (Robin) Zhao
Deyi (Robin) Zhao is an artist and designer born in Jilin, China and based in the Bay Area. Robin was raised in San Francisco. She grew up deeply involved in large-scale public art through her family. Her grandmother Yumei Hou served as a lead carver for the San Francisco Chinese New Year statues for over 30 years, and her father worked on parade float construction and art creations. From an early age, Robin participated in painting, assembling, and building these projects developing a lasting connection to the materials and collaborative practices she learned while there.
Robin’s work spans painting and visual design, shaped by both traditional craft and contemporary design thinking. She graduated from the California College of the Arts with distinction in Interaction Design.
Her projects include collaborations with Alaska Airlines, Bank of America, Comcast, the Golden State Warriors, Gold Bar Whiskey, and Lucky Supermarket.
