Lucky California Celebrates Community

Thomas with Mayor 2023b

Lucky California is proud to once again be a sponsor of the San Francisco Chinese New
Year Festival and Parade! Our company was founded over 70 years ago in Modesto,
and you can find Lucky and Lucky California stores across northern California. We are
proud to call the Bay Area our home and continually provide our shoppers with fresh
food and fresh savings.

We also deeply value our associates. One individual who pours his heart and soul into
the Chinese New Year celebration is the Director of the Lucky California store on Sloat Ave. in San Francisco, Thomas Wilson.

An Asian-American who was born and raised in the Bay Area, Thomas fully appreciates the cultural significance of this event. When you add in 20 years of leadership within our company, you can understand why he is such an integral part of our partnership with the San Francisco Chinese New Year.

In 2024, the Lucky California team will celebrate the Year of the Dragon throughout the
month of February.

  • Our team will be at the Flower Market Fair on February 3rd and 4th with traditional
flowers and foods available so you can prepare to usher in the lunar new year.
  • On February 17th, we will have an exciting lion dance troupe at our location at 1515
Sloat Ave. (1:30 pm). You don’t want to miss this live performance!
  • At the Parade on February 24th, we will have two entries: “Big Red” (our oversized,
hot-rod-shopping-cart) will be followed by our beautiful Year of the Dragon float. We are
proud to also have our company associates highlighted on both entries.
  • Throughout the month, see our 3-D dragon statue at the Sloat Ave. location. The size
and color of this amazing piece of art make it a perfect photo opportunity.
